I don’t understand people when they say they don’t want to have kids. Well, I mean I can understand why you might not want kids (the crying, the poop, the talking back, the financial duress), but that certainly doesn’t mean that I agree with it.
I mean kids are the only thing we’re really here for, from a Darwinistic point of view. What if spiders and dogs said I don’t want kids – they’d be ignoring the most primal forces that keep them alive! My solution is to have kids when I’m older after I already have my fortune. You may say that if you’re fifty you’re too old to teach your kid how to throw a football and you’ll miss the joy of playing with him when he’s a baby. But that’s not true – older folks know how to throw footballs even better than the young. And so what if you don’t crawl on the floor with your baby before he knows how to walk – he’s supposed to watch and learn from you. And with my fortune, I’ll be able to provide a live-in nanny so an old man’s sleep isn’t continually disrupted by the squalls of youth.
Plus, I’ll be able to afford all the infant crib bedding, childrens twin bedding, toddlers furniture, and everything else the tyke’ll want. But after the childrens twin bedding I won’t spoil him. There’s a fine line, that hopefully years of life experience will teach me to negotiate.
